Well, today is going quite well and after the weekend I had, I could do with that.
This weekend I’m off out in Sheffield to celebrate a friends Birthday. Normally, my dad, kind soul that he is, gives me a lift back so that I can have a few drinks. However, I knew that this Friday they were going to be away on Holiday. Just as I was about to get in touch with my brother Alex on MSN to see if he could do it (edited for the sake of brevity)…
14:52:15 Alex: hello 14:52:23 Me: u back now then? weren't you going away? 14:52:27 Alex: dont ask 14:52:32 Me: oh dear :/ 14:52:35 Me: What's up? 14:52:51 Alex: I have had the worst day ever 14:52:58 Me: ?? how come? 14:53:27 Me: have you spazzed mum's car into a wall and written it off? 14:53:35 Me: if not, you're *not* having the worst day ever. 14:53:35 Alex: pretty much 14:53:40 Me: SHIT 14:53:43 Me: what's happened? 14:53:52 Alex: well I was going down binns lane
Anyway – the end result of the unfortunate incident is one written-off Toyota Yaris – and my brother being my mum’s slave for the rest of the summer…
An hour later and I’m heading up the A14, back to Yorkshire to help my brother out whilst my parents return from their holiday in France/Belgium.
My parents got back at about 6:45am on the Saturday. As I was awake from 6am anyway and in the knowledge that they’d just driven all night (bar a rest waiting for the ferry) I helped my dad get their stuff out of the car and trailer whilst my mum had a rest. I made sure Alex was up to assist!
Anyway - it turns out that I've managed to catch some sort of dodgy stomach bug, possibly from a service station sandwich that I had on the way back up to Yorkshire the day before. So I most of the rest of the day in bed.Sunday, my mum decides that it’s time for me to sort out my house so that I can rent it out. My parents and my brother helped out. to be fair, my parents were the main driving force behind the action – both me and my brother are rubbish at that kind of stuff. And then I had the pleasure of driving back down to Suffolk again. The A1 and A14 have got to be the most boring roads in the world. I popped in to see my friends Ed and Marie in Cambridge on the way down and they fed me with an excellent roast dinner and more mashed potato than one man should ever eat.
Monday was dull… dull dull dull.

Today has mainly been good, but that’s pretty much entirely because I found my headphones again. They’re Shure E3c in-ear headphones. They’re really good, but they were also quite expensive so I was pleased to find them… exactly where I had put them but couldn’t find them for two weeks.
Does anyone run classes on “finding things exactly where you put them”?
I’ve been thinking about Saturday night and the unfortunate power cut……..
Don’t you think that it would be it would be incredibly “Rock and Roll” to fake a power cut and thus not perform at your own album launch party?
I mean, there is a good chance that people will be talking about what happened on saturday night for ages!
National School were brilliant as ever.

Munkyfest was excellent again!
Although I’ve only been to it twice, I again woke up on the Sunday with a hangover and a feeling I had been part of something quite special. And on the train on the way home, I read through the full ‘social and economic history of Munkyfest’. Quite a journey those guys have been on. I feel sad that it’s all over, so I guess Matt, Clare, Beezly and all the ‘crew’ must be feeling that way too… Or maybe they’re still sleeping on it.
Anyway I was a bit lazy about sharing photos last year (have lots from then too) but here’s a selection from last weekend:
Hi
“Ernest” are friends of a friend and are actually good!
I think there is a review for “Hot Club De Paris” elsewhere on the designer magazine site as well.
Hmmmm.

Whilst in London last week, I went to Viva Viva in Hornsey and saw Brody and Quint, a three piece Alt-folk-pop group – who not only sounded pretty darned good, but they’re also holding the torch of northern-rooted music in London (Bolton, Harrogate and Liverpool) and as an added bonus, they’re very nice people too! Anyway, if you get the chance to go and see them, do so. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.
