I googled this phone number and this blog was the first result. Thanks. Bloody Admiral. Soooo annoying! I renewed my car insurance with them at the beginning of the month and now they keep ringing me to sell me more add ons to my policy. Gargh! If that's what I have to put up with for getting cheaper car insurance I think I'll switch in future and pay that little bit more to not be harrassed!

I started getting calls just after subscribing to Elephant. About 20 a week if I don't pick up!!! This EUI group is appalling!! If I can't get them to stop, I will change car insurance presto. There's no way they should get away with that kind of behaviour.

Thanks for letting me know this number! I have been getting calls from them for 2 days now, when I pick up the line goes dead.I suspect they are using an auto dailler. I re newed my car insurance with Admiral last week and now I'm getting these calls! I never usually get cold calls because I'm not listed in the phone book.I've registered with the telephone prefernce service now in the hope they'll stop!

Thanks for the info, I had a call from this number this morning (hang up when I answered).

In response to Dave's post, I'm registered with the TPS: http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/tps/

I get almost no marketing calls now, today was such an exception that I went to the effort of Googling the number!

Also found :
http://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/08000524264

Nice to know we're not the only ones, even if there is little we can do about it!

Thanks for this, I searched for the number after they kept phoning me during office hours. Found your blog post, I wish there was a gov list for these companies that they have to check before phoning you (like the junk mail list)

have fun -

Listen to the sales patter, say sorry they have the wrong mister Smith etc, put the phone down on the side (don't hang up), walk across the room, shout "dad it's for you" and carry on watching TV.

They will waste hours - and they never call back.

let 'em wait<br />I don't get that many sales calls on my mobile, but my home number gets a fair few. Normally it seems to be people ringing from indian call centres. You can instantly recognise the delay on the line and the indian accent, but it can take a little while to get a word in edgeways to tell them you're not interested. We also recognise these calls because I'm accidentally listed in the phone book as Mr Woods.

Here's a tip which I've now started doing every time. Say to them <I>"Can you hold the line for a minute, I've left some food on the hob."</i> and then just leave them waiting for you (go back to what you were doing)

It saves you getting wound up thinking of rude things to say, and lets you have a little inward chuckle as they lose some time and money waiting for you. Only trouble is you have to remember to put the phone back on the hook later on.
