Derr… my brain hurtz
Have you ever had one of those days where you never seem to get anything done, you feel like you have forgotten something very important that you need to do?
That just about sums up today for me.
It’s terminal
On the positive side I’ve ‘borrowed’ a Sumo ST166. v. nice Linux based terminal. The next toy I intend to play with is one of their ST375s.
Hot at work
It’s been lovely and sunny here today – a little to warm in my office, but generally quite pleasant.
Chris, Ian and I headed over to The Interval for lunch and I took this lovely picture of the Student’s Union building with Chris’ new camera. I had a very tasty Chilli, Chickpea and Feta salad… tasty stuff.
Flickr Group for Huddersfield “Expats”!
Ok, now that there are a few of us on flickr, I created a Huddersfield Expats private group for us to join. If you want an invite, let me know.

Sad day
Milk
A useful thing I have discovered recently is that you can freeze milk – so long as it is in a plastic (or expandable) container.
The main reason this is useful to me is because if I buy more than 2pt bottles of milk, it goes off before I get chance to use it all. So now, I buy loads of 2pt bottles and freeze all but one (which I use).
An interesting side effect is that whilst frozen, the milk goes a yellow colour and of course it makes the bottle swell to a new shape. It doesn’t seem to affect the taste of the milk though.
The Picturedrome
I’m sure lots of people will be interested to know (or at least, SOME of you!) – last night I spoke to Peter Carr about the future of the Picturedrome in Holmfirth.
So far, the story is – a lawyer has the option to buy sometime within the next 5 weeks. That seems very likely to happen and when it does the current plan is to turn the Picturedrome into a Bar/Diner. If the sale still doesn’t go through, the plan is still to turn the place into a bar/diner, but Peter will do it himself.
There ya go… hot off the press!
In other news, Ocean Colour Scene are playing the Picturedrome on the 27th of July, and Idlewild are playing an acoustic set on the 29th. It’s kinda weird seeing big names on the billboard of the tiny cinema in the village you live in!
Making Poverty History
I spent Saturday at the Picturedrome in Holmfirth as part of the Live 8 Local event going on down there. 16 local bands in 8 hours! Mayhem.
The Billberets were on at 12:30 (originally meant to be 12, but we swapped with another band) and I was also playing at a party in the evening at the Picturedrome.
The only problem with being near a bar for 14 hours in one day (I was there from 11am until 1am) is that I had quite a sore head this morning.
Detonator
Dominic, one of my colleagues, found this explosives detonator in the scrap PC heap at work today. Can anyone think of some uses?
